Lawyer – Youthlaw – Full-time or Part-time (Min. 4 days ).
We seek a passionate lawyer with criminal law experience including court work and knowledge of non criminal law relevant to vulnerable and disadvantaged young people under 25.
This position is responsible for the bulk of our criminal cases and involves a significant caseload & regular court work usually at the Melbourne Magistrates court.
You will join our dynamic & collaborative lawyer & social worker team and will work with our Principal lawyer and criminal law specialist Anna and Nick our secondee from Ashurst to provide legal assistance at our drop in clinics at Pelham St and Frontyard youth services. You will also work with our other staff and and programs including a family violence program, a regional & outer urban outreach service, a student legal service and a care leavers service.
There will be opportunity to contribute to test cases, law reform and legal education.
Our office is in an Innovation hub with other legal services in Carlton. This hub was initiated by ex Victorian Attorney General Rob Hulls and the aim is to develop & test innovative approaches to delivering legal services.
The salary range is Level 5 up to Level 6.1 of the SCHCADS Award 2010 . ( $82,781 to $90439 ) . A higher classification and salary will be considered if the successful candidate has significant criminal law experience.
In addition generous salary packaging, superannuation & 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata).
