Youthlaw | Principal Criminal Lawyer | Full-time or Part-time | Carlton


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Youthlaw, a state-wide specialist community legal centre for young people under 25.

Youthlaw is looking for an experienced criminal lawyer to manage and develop our small criminal law practice at our Carlton office. The position will involve a reasonable caseload including court appearances, but also responsibility for managing the criminal law practice, mentoring & supervising staff and collaborative advocacy with key stakeholders on legal reforms, to improve outcomes for 18- to 25-year-olds who are presently overrepresented in the criminal justice system.

This role would suit a lawyer with at least 5 years criminal law experience, interested in the opportunity to develop criminal expertise in the representation of young adults, to manage and mentor, and to be involved in criminal justice reform.

The full-time base salary range is $114,240 (Level 7.1 of SCHCADS Award 2010).

In addition:

  • Generous salary packaging  
  • 11.5% Superannuation 
  • 4 weeks annual leave with loading (pro rata) and additional paid leave between Christmas and New Years Day (pro rata)
